Just Some Pics
Decided to take my camera out today just to have something to send along to brighten up the blog which has been pictureless for awhile. You can see pics of the local slum just down the wadi from Swiss Cottage.

Richer Slum-Wooden Walls

There were more people living here but they were removed from the area last year when work on the new parking area began. You can see in one of the pictures the dwellings directly behind the new parking area.

Notice the Tent Slum Dwellings Behind Parking Lot

It is going to be even worse for these people once cars start parking there…just imagine the fumes they will have to live with.
You can also see the new road paved

as well as the beginnings of the retainer wall I wrote about using the rocks which are worked on until one side is flat to be used as the front of the wall.

You can also get a glimpse of the newly tarred roads which are seen all over town – another improvement being made before the kumbha mela which begins next month. The roads are tarred during the day, with people walking all over them even while they are still wet and sticky…it is all very impractical but seems to work…

And you can also see pics of the new restaurant I’ve been writing about with the clever idea of using saris (7 years of fabric each) to decorate the ceilings.

December 10, 2009 – Finally Something Interesting to Write

Over the past 10 days I’ve experience 3 really really bad headaches, which always begin after I fall asleep, wake me from a sound sleep in which I am having weird dreams, and although I manage to fall back to sleep, and dream again, I am again woken with terrible pounding in my whole head. The headache is always gone by the time I wake up in the morning.
The only reason I could think of was that perhaps, due to the colder weather, I have not been drinking enough, so everytime I woke up with a headache, I would drink lots of water, but the headache never relented.
Then, last nite, I had the worst ever….I felt like my head would explode…it was not a migraine…something so intense I felt like crying, and didn’t know what to do except drink and do Reiki , Matrix and Hatmara to get back to sleep. I was awakened like this 4 times during the night, always from a powerful dream (which I don’t remember) which seemed very real to me while I was dreaming it.
It was only when I woke up finally in the morning (with no headache), that I began to think there was a connection between Read the rest of this entry »

December 9, 2009 –Chickpeas in No Time!- and Neighbors and Friends

Well, I woke up to a very cold dreary morning and was wondering how I would manage my massage today without sun in the sun room. I dressed up warm, although, among many other thins (I am less afraid of buzzing bees near me and stray dogs), I am no longer hung up on the issue of carrying around tons of extra clothing in case I am cold. Have actually found that being a little less snug and warm can be nice as the feel of the cool air through my clothes is actually quite pleasant. So I am able to wear less in the very cold morning hours, meaning I have less to shlep around during the rest of the day when it warms up.
So, I went down this morning and had my nice wheat porridge, and while I was eating, the sun began to shine through the cloud layer, at least enough to warm up a sun room through the glass windows. I had a lovely warm Read the rest of this entry »
